Publications, media appearances, and that funny thing called one's "career"

I have been writing, and speaking, in other media (i.e. not Substack) this past week, and I want to share some of that work with y’all!

So, I have been reading a few books about freelancing lately—trying to imagine how to actually make a career out of writing full-time. Apparently, it is possible. (I’ve also been working with a career coach, and doing informational interviews with other freelance journalists and editors—so I know that it’s possible. But still, it feels wildly out of reach.)

I’m still building up my freelance writing portfolio (aka “clips”). Which is apparently what you have to do to prove yourself to any editor before they will give you the time of day!

Anyway, read on about two current projects that have just now come to fruition.
